General Guidance Offered by BTA During COVID-19
The Barbados Tennis Association developed a set of guidelines for all tennis facilities, tennis providers and coaches – related to the resumption of tennis in Barbados during COVID-19. It is important to note that it is the responsibility of each tennis facility review these guidelines and make the necessary assessment based on their respective environments.

Specific Guidance Related to the National Tennis Centre During COVID-19
As it relates to the National Tennis Centre (NTC) and all users of the courts of the NTC, following the specific guidelines related to the environment of the BTA’s National Tennis Centre. These are in line with the Emergency Management (COVID-19) directive covering the period May 18 – 31 2020. The Government’s last directive effective June 1 2020 did not change as it relates to tennis, though there was some relaxation of curfew restrictions.
As a result, and due to the efforts by coaches, players and other patrons of the NTC to honour the various protocols, the NTC has relaxed some of its protocols effective June 9 2020, including the adjustment of opening hours.

- Physical Distancing Guidelines of the National Tennis Centre were previously released May 19 2020.
All patrons of the National Tennis Centre – tennis players, coaches, members and non-members – are asked to continue to honour these NTC protocols.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF)
As at 2017 the strategy of the Development Department of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) was “To increase the number and standard of players worldwide” and its core objectives were to:
- Increase participation in tennis worldwide for all ages, genders, playing standards and physical abilities
- Develop talented players – particularly from Nations which are both under-resourced and under-represented.
