Paraguay had some consolation as the DAVIS CUP by BNP Paribas Americas Zone Group II tie between the South Americans and Barbados concluded at the National Tennis Centre, Wildey on Sunday morning.
With Barbados having already taken the 1st round tie by Saturday after winning both the opening singles and the doubles, the Paraguayans took the two reverse singles against Bajans #3 & #4 – Anthony Marshall and Seanon Williams in straight sets.
Barbados next play Mexico in Mexico from April 6-8, 2012 for a place in the Group II 3rd round, while Paraguay travel to El Salvador in the Relegation playoffs.
As a result of winning the 1st round, Barbados jump 20 places in the world rankings to #60. Next opponents Mexico rise 2 places to # 46 after their 5-0 win over El Salvador.
