El Salvador and Barbados meet Friday in Americas Zone Group II first round action in San Salvador with the hosts holding a 3-1 head-to-head advantage. The most recent meeting came in 2009 at the round-robin stage of a Group III battle in which El Salvador came behind to record a 2-1 win thanks to a doubles performance from Rafael and Marcelo Arevalo.
Having won promotion to Group II in 2011, Barbados beat Paraguay 3-2 at home in the 2012 first round to record their first win at this level since 1991 before losing away against Mexico in the semifinal.
